Poudre River Irregulars: Links to Our Friends


MUSICIANS, BANDS, DANCERS
	Ray Leake: "Music 4 Ewe"	Our pianist Ray Leake also plays for events in the Denver area, does arranging, and offers private lessons; he has two CDs.
	Queen City Jazz Band	Denver's famous New Orleans and Dixieland band. Bob Cooke is an alumnus and still plays with them on occasion.
	Grand Dominion Jazz Band	One of the best known and most admired New Orleans-style groups on the festival circuit. Our old friend Bob Jackson (who plays on our second CD) is an alumnus.
	Pete Wernick & Flexigrass	This uniquely eclectic Denver-based band combines traditional jazz with bluegrass, and employs some of our friends.
	Jumpin' Jive Cats	This Fort Collins-based group of swing dance enthusiasts dance, teach, and perform the Lindy Hop and Jitterbug all around this region. We frequently play at their Big Band Swing Night gigs.
FESTIVALS
	Evergreen Jazz Festival	This annual late-July event, held in the hills west of Denver, hosts mostly traditional jazz and is (in the words of Mississippi Rag columnist Bob Lynn) "the best jazz festival anywhere". Bob Cooke, Bob Jackson and friends, in the guise of the Celebration Jazz Band, are regulars.
SOCIETIES & PUBLICATIONS
	Northern Colorado Traditional Jazz Society	This wonderful jazz society sponsors a variety of great concerts each year and has been a huge help to our band. Give them your support!
	Denver Jazz Club	This long-time jazz society sponsors traditional jazz concerts by a variety of musicians and bands, including the Poudre River Irregulars.
	Boulder Friends of Jazz	Another supportive jazz society in our region, sponsoring traditional jazz concerts and jam sessions.
	Pikes Peak Jazz and Swing Society	The jazz society for the Colorado Springs area. They support all flavors of jazz, and their website lists concerts and festivals all over Colorado.
	Puget Sound Traditional Jazz Society	The Puget Sound area is a hotbed of trad jazz enthusiasts, and this active group supports many local bands. Their website gives band contact info and lists quality festivals in the west.
	Colorado Friends of Old Time Music and Dance	Enthusiastic folks who enjoy and promote the whole spectrum of traditional American music and dance. We play for their big Dixieland jazz dances twice a year.
	Queen City Jazz Foundation	A Denver-based foundation to further education in tradtitional jazz through scholarships and school programs. Pianist Hank Troy is director.
	Summit Jazz Foundation	Sponsor of Denver's famous Summit Jazz festival, where some of the world's best tradtitional jazz bands play, plus a Swinging Jazz concert series.
	*The American Rag*	"America's Largest Traditional Jazz and Ragtime Newspaper" -- an excellent monthly magazine. Their website offers current info on cruises, tours, and festivals, plus jazz links.
	*The Mississippi Rag*	"The Voice of Traditional Jazz and Ragtime" -- an excellent monthly magazine. Their website offers current info on world-wide festivals and extensive jazz links.
	*GoCO Music*	Current listings of live music in the northern Colorado region, including venues and band profiles, calendars, and reviews. Listings are provided by the bands themselves, so all kinds of music are represented.
